Michigan appears to be the front-runner to land four-star OT over Big Ten rivals

Even at a place like Michigan, which has tradition as well as extremely recent national championship history, in-state recruiting is vital.

Sure, the Wolverines can pull top recruits from anywhere, but keeping the talent in your own backyard within state lines is a tried-and-true winning strategy on the recruiting trail.

As such, four-star offensive lineman Avery Gach from Franklin, Michigan, is undoubtedly one of new head coach Sherrone Moore's top 2025 targets.

And there's good news for the Wolverines in that regard.

Although Michigan State, Ohio State and Notre Dame are also in the running for the four-star's commitment, it sounds like the Wolverines may have an edge.

“Gach is expected at Michigan’s spring game and the Wolverines are trending even after recent trips to Michigan State and Ohio State,” according to Steve Wiltfong of On3. “Gach’s recruitment could soon be coming to a close. Sherrone Moore has been the lead recruiter from the start, and Gach has been in Ann Arbor countless times.”

Michigan's spring game is this weekend, and with Gach expected to be in attendance, the Wolverines very well could be expecting a commitment.

If Michigan lands him, he'll be a big part of Moore's first official recruiting class. According to the 247Sports composite, the 6-foot-5, 275-pound rising-senior lineman is the No. 16-ranked interior offensive lineman recruit in the country.
