Carlos Soler waited until the last Ligue 1 match of the season to score perhaps one of the best goals of the season.

With the match scoreless in the 7th minute, Soler received a short pass off a corner from Kang-In Lee. From outside the box, Soler was likely looking to play a cross to a teammate in front of goal, but instead, his pass looped past the outstretched FC Metz’s goalkeeper and landed in the back of the net.

Soler last scored for PSG in Ligue 1 last October against RC Strasbourg. His second goal for PSG may actually end up being his last. The former Valencia midfielder has been linked with a move to the Premier League, with both Aston Villa and Brighton & Hove Albion FC showing interest.

PSG’s midfield will certainly undergo a rebuild this season. Vitinha and Warren Zaïre-Emery have both solidified their role in the starting lineup under Luis Enrique, but Soler and Fabian Ruiz have not proven to be consistent enough to be considered long-term solutions.

In 2022, Soler made the move to PSG from Valencia for a reported €18 million. Depending on how highly Villa and Brighton rate Soler, PSG could make a small profit on the transfer.

PSG have already secured their 12th Ligue 1 title, so there’s very little to play for against Metz. Soler was likely getting a chance to feature due to Luis Enrique wanting to rotate the squad ahead of PSG’s Coupe de France final against Olympique Lyonnais.
