Ownership Drama & Serie A Title Celebrations Mixed – Another Episode Of 'Pazza Inter'

It looks to be another episode of “Pazza Inter” as Inter Milan are experiencing turbulence in their ownership right as they’re celebrating the Serie A title.

This is highlighted in today’s print edition of Milan-based newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport, via FCInterNews.

This evening, Inter will officially receive the trophy for winning the Serie A title.

This will be essentially be the final chapter in a title celebration that has lasted for weeks.

First there was the actual clinching the title, in an historic derby against AC Milan, and the subsequent party. Then there was the victory parade the following weekend.

And in the trophy presentation after this evening’s match against Lazio, Inter will get yet another opportunity to enjoy the fruits of their effort over this extraordinary season.

“Pazza Inter” Strikes Again As Ownership Drama Overshadows Title Celebrations

This was supposed to be a day of celebration for Inter. And it undoubtedly will be.

But there is a big dark cloud hanging over the occasion – in the form of the great uncertainty that is caused by the club’s ownership situation.

Reports indicate that Inter owners Suning will default on repaying their debt to US-based fund Oaktree Capital.

Should this indeed be the case, then the Chinese company’s controlling shares in the Nerazzurri will pass into the hands of Oaktree.

Naturally, this situation has resulted in no shortage of uncertainty. Not to mention drama, as a statement yesterday by Inter President Steven Zhang prefigures an upcoming legal battle.

But Inter are used to this. It’s in the club’s DNA, with the famous “Pazza Inter” moniker.

In 2010, Inter were only just celebrating a Champions League triumph to cap off their iconic European Treble.

But coach Jose Mourinho was to stay in Madrid – having already effectively sealed his departure to join Real Madrid.

And then in 2021, Antonio Conte departed the Nerazzurri in dramatic circumstances, right after he had guided the team to their first Serie A title in eleven years.
